Summer time is a most important season in our calendar. Maqui berries need some warmth to start to develop the beautiful purple colour we know and love. We have had some very strange weather the past few months, nothing very consistent so sadly the berries haven't had much warmth yet to start the purple developing process.
I suspect that we may have a later picking season this year, but we will know more towards the end of December how they are fairing. Usually picking occurs around mid to late January.
Strawberries are the current "flavour of the month" in our household. The unripe ones are being watched closely by our little ones to to see if they will redden up in mere moments. Sadly they don't 😂 And also disappointingly unripe berries aren't half as tasty.
What are your favourite summertime fruits?
We are unlikely to get many stone fruits this year as we don't have a dog anymore deterring the possums and birds from the trees. Have you tried the possum thumpers? I'm yet to give these a go, I wonder if they will do the trick?
